Editorial Policy

Stainless Steel Guide publishes practical explanations, care instructions, and product comparisons. This policy describes what our byline means, how we choose evidence, and what readers should expect when an article changes.

How we research

We start with the source closest to the claim. That usually means manufacturer documentation for product specifications and care limits, government agencies for consumer-safety guidance, recognized standards bodies for material definitions, and peer-reviewed research for questions the other sources do not answer.

We add links beside consequential factual claims so readers can inspect the evidence. We do not treat retailer copy, anonymous summaries, or a single customer review as proof of a technical or safety claim.

How product comparisons work

Our current buying guides are research-based editorial comparisons, not hands-on tests. We compare exact models using current specifications, availability, intended use, owner-feedback patterns, independent test results, and limitations that could change the buying decision. Each guide explains its own criteria and identifies when its product data was collected.

We do not claim a measurement, test result, or firsthand experience unless we performed and documented it. When we rely on another publisher’s testing, we name and link that source.

Safety and health claims

Safety-sensitive advice requires stronger sourcing and more careful wording than a preference or cleaning tip. We avoid absolute guarantees, distinguish general information from medical advice, and tell readers to follow the instructions for their exact product. A clinician, poison-control service, manufacturer, or relevant public agency should handle an individual exposure or medical concern.

Corrections and updates

We correct material errors when we find them. A substantive revision receives a visible updated date, while the original publication date remains available. Product availability, ratings, specifications, and official guidance can change, so readers should also check the linked primary source before acting on a time-sensitive detail.

Commercial independence

Some product links can earn a commission, but a manufacturer or retailer cannot buy a ranking, approve our copy, or remove a disclosed drawback. Our affiliate disclosure explains the relationship and how to recognize monetized links.
